Live Hive Inspections & All about Mite Mgmt!

If you do the sugar roll test & treat with Formic/OA, then this class is for you! Learn new tips & the updated research to add to your mite game! There is a new robbing screen design by Randy Oliver that is more effective for keeping robbers/yellowjackets out and is less confusing for the home bees. I am super excited about it! I will also cover:

  • Making the sugar roll more accurate
  • Formic Pro - why it doesn't work sometimes, different approach in spring vs fall
  • Oxalic Acid Sponges - why mite levels can go up & how to tell if its a problem or not
  • Resistance & rotation of treatments
  • Mite life cycle & signs of mite damage in the hive
  • A seasonal mite management schedule
  • If you can't make it live, you will get the recording to watch when its convenient.

LIVE HIVE INSPECTION CLASSES
Dates:
Friday, July 11th, 1:30pm-3:30pm
Saturday, July 19th, 2-4pm
Location: Berkeley near BioFuel Oasis
Cost: $30 for each date, $50 for two dates

We'll inspect my Berkeley hives. I'll demo the sugar roll test, how to use the tools, identifying what's in the hive, and how to recognize bee behavior. You definitely want to do one or both of these! Group is limited to 6 people.
